Judge Sean R.H. Smith
Judge Sean R.H. Smith is a Carrollton native and a 1974 graduate of Carrollton High School. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from The College of Wooster in 1978 and graduated from the University of Akron School of Law with a Juris Doctorate degree in 1981.
Judge Smith was honored with the Distinguished Service Award given by the Carrollton Civic Club in 1986 and in 2006, he was awarded the Commerce President’s Award given by the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce. Judge Smith was inducted into the Carrollton School Alumni Foundation Hall of Fame in 2014.
Judge Smith became a partner with Attorney John Childers to establish the law firm of Childers and Smith LLP in 1982 where he practiced law for nearly forty years. During his professional career as a private attorney, Judge Smith served as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for Carroll County beginning in 2005 Judge Smith served on the Board of Trustees of the Multi-County Juvenile Attention System from 2007 until his judgeship began.
Judge Smith and his wife, Janet, reside in Carrollton.
